A clean and well-maintained stone tile shower can be an exquisite addition to any bathroom. However, it requires proper care and maintenance to maintain its natural beauty and functionality. In this article, we will discuss three effective methods to clean a stone tile shower, ensuring that it remains fresh and inviting.

1. Use a pH-neutral cleaner

Using a pH-neutral cleaner is crucial for protecting the integrity of your stone tile surface. Harsh chemicals and acidic or alkaline substances can etch the surface of the tiles, causing them to lose their luster, stains or even become damaged. To clean your shower using a pH-neutral cleaner, follow these steps:

a. Mix a small amount of the cleaner with water according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

b. Apply the solution to your stone tile shower using a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid using abrasive scrubbers as they can damage the stone’s surface.

c. Gently scrub the tiles in circular motion, paying extra attention to areas where soap scum, mildew, or hard water stains have built up.

d. Rinse the shower with warm water and use a squeegee or soft towel to dry the surface area.

2. Steam Cleaning

Steam cleaning is another excellent method for cleaning your stone tile shower without causing damage or exposing it to harmful chemicals. Steam cleaners harness high-pressure hot water vapor to soften and eliminate dirt particles from stone surfaces.

a. Begin by filling your steam cleaner according to the manufacturer’s instructions and heating it up until steam is ready for use.

b. Starting from the top of the shower, release the steam onto the surface of your stone tiles.

c. Use an appropriate attachment or brush for your steam cleaner on stubborn stains and mold spots.

d. Wipe away loosened dirt with a microfiber cloth as you progress.

e. Allow your shower to air dry, or use a soft towel to pat dry the tiles.

3. Homemade cleaning solutions

Non-abrasive homemade solutions can be effective for maintaining your stone tile shower’s beauty and cleanliness. Many household ingredients, such as white vinegar and baking soda, provide a natural and safe alternative to commercial cleaners.

a. Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle.

b. Spray the solution onto your stone tile shower surface.

c. Use a soft brush or cloth to scrub the tiles gently.

d. For grout cleaning, create a paste using baking soda and water, then apply it to the grout lines with an old toothbrush or a soft scrub brush.

e. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and use a squeegee or soft towel to dry the shower.

In conclusion, regular cleaning of your stone tile shower is essential not only for maintaining its appearance but also for ensuring the longevity of your investment. Employing these three techniques – using pH-neutral cleaners, steam cleaning, and homemade solutions – will help keep your stone tile shower in top-notch condition while preventing surface damage caused by harsh chemicals and abrasive scrubbing materials.
