3 Sneaky Strategies to Win at Monopoly

Monopoly, the classic board game of buying and trading properties, has captured the hearts of players for generations. While many play it as a friendly competition, others like to push the limits and find ways to “cheat” the system. Here are three cunning strategies that you can use to gain an advantage over your opponents in Monopoly and potentially guarantee a win.

1.The ‘Slippery Bill’ Tactic

A favorite tactic amongst sneaky Monopoly players is the ‘Slippery Bill.’ This strategy involves subtly pocketing extra cash during the game without others noticing. For instance, when you’re handed change, slip a few extra dollars into your hand and add them to your stack. A key component of this strategy is discretion;  be sure to perfect the art of misdirection when looking up bills and counting money.

Aside from pickpocketing from the bank, you can also misdirect other players by covering your cash pile with something else, like a magazine or book. This way, no one can see precisely how much money you have, allowing you to fabricate rental fees or mortgage costs if needed.

2.The ‘Property Hoarder’ Method

The next sly maneuver is known as the ‘Property Hoarder.’ The goal here is to accumulate as many properties as possible quickly while avoiding erecting houses or hotels on them. By doing so, you prevent opponents from expanding their territories while maintaining an immense cache of undeveloped properties.

To make this trick work, roll carefully and focus on landing on unowned spaces or participating in auctions if someone else cannot pay for a property. When you’ve collected enough properties across various color-blocks, don’t put any houses or hotels on them—essentially hoarding all available resources without actually investing in upgrades.

3.The ‘Bank Error’ Ploy

Our final deceptive strategy is the ‘Bank Error.’ For this trick, you will want to time your actions when the banker is distracted or paying attention to another player. Simply take some money from the bank, act as if it was awarded due to a bank error, and add it to your cash pile.

For this play to be successful, you should carefully judge the game’s atmosphere and your opponents’ vigilance. Casually announce that you’ve benefited from a bank error and thank the banker for their mistake, taking advantage of the confusion and blending in with the play’s casual pace.

Caution: Use these strategies at your own risk

Implementing these tactics may not only jeopardize friendships but also go against the spirit of fair play. Remember that Monopoly should be fun and enjoyable for everyone. If you decide to try out these techniques, use them sparingly and with caution—otherwise, you might find yourself with no one left to play with.

In conclusion, while these three “cheat” strategies may help you win at Monopoly, consider playing ethically and enjoying the camaraderie of this classic board game. After all, sometimes having fun is more important than winning by any means necessary.
