The INFJ, or the Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging personality type, is one of the rarest Myers-Briggs types, making up less than 2% of the population. Known as the idealist or the advocate, INFJs are empathic, deep thinkers who value harmony and understanding. If you’re curious about how to spot an INFJ in your life, here are 11 simple ways to identify them.

1. Introverted Nature: Despite their warm and compassionate nature, INFJs are introverts at heart. They often need alone time to recharge and process their thoughts and feelings.

2. Empathy: One of the key traits of an INFJ is their empathic nature. They’re highly sensitive and can easily pick up on people’s emotions, especially if someone is in emotional distress.

3. Intuition: INFJs have a strong intuition and tend to think in abstract terms. They can understand complex patterns in life and events happening around them.

4. Creative Expression: Often being artistic and creative individuals, INFJs use their creativity as a means of self-expression and self-discovery. They may excel in fields such as writing, visual arts or music.

5. Private Life: Despite having close friendships and connections with others, INFJs are very private people and rarely share their deepest feelings with anyone but their most trusted confidants.

6. Holistic Thinking: INFJs constantly seek meaning and purpose behind everything in life. They look for connections between people, experiences, and ideas so that they can analyze them from a big-picture perspective.

7. Desire for Harmony: In relationships or group settings, INFJs prioritize harmony above all else. They aim to promote understanding and foster open communication to create an environment of peace.

8. Planning and Organization: As ‘judging’ types, INFJs like structure and tend to make well-thought-out plans and schedules. They appreciate routines that help them maintain balance in their lives.

9. Passion for Social Issues: INFJs often feel a deep sense of responsibility for the well-being of others and may be passionate about social issues that impact humanity. They strive to be agents of positive change.

10. Wise Counselors: With their empathic, intuitive natures, INFJs are often viewed as wise counselors or mentors, listening patiently and providing valuable insights for others going through challenging times.

11. Altruism: Finally, one of the hallmarks of an INFJ is their altruistic behavior. They genuinely care about others and are willing to go above and beyond to support those they love or in need.

Recognizing these 11 simple ways to spot an INFJ can help you understand the unique traits that make this personality type stand out among other Myers-Briggs types. If you think you might have an INFJ in your life or believe you might be an INFJ yourself, celebrate these qualities that truly make a difference in the world.
