Product Review of Sumdog

Aligned to the Common Core and key state standards, Sumdog provides K-8 learning in math, spelling, and grammar. With an adaptive learning engine, questions are targeted to each individual’s academic learning level providing automatic differentiation in the classroom. Questions are purposefully designed to blend new learning and review. Sumdog is full of engaging activities and games designed to keep learners motivated through a focus on game-based learning. With a subscription, educators have access to detailed reports providing information on progress, effort, skills, and growth against the standards for each learner. Sumdog uses a positive reward system to help ensure continued learner engagement. For correct answers, learners earn gold coins which can be “spent” in Sumdog’s in-app store. There is also an optional pet reward program where each learner has a virtual pet that learns one new trick for each new skill the learner masters.

What Users Love About the App

“My students love playing solo, against other classmates, or being part of a regional or national contest. Oftentimes I have to tell them to stop playing so we can move on to other work.”

“I love my kid learning subjects online thank you sumdog for making my kid smart.”
“A pretty good app for playing and doing some things your teacher tells you to do, such as, finishing questions and doing missions you can say.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“Requested from school to get the app for my kids, I get past the login and select their name then crashes and kicks me off. This is just on a phone, no luck on an iPad either.”
“Sumdog is great on my PC but on my phone it crashes so my daughter can’t use it.”
“I used to love Sumdog because of all of the great games they had, but now they have made 3D games that I believe are much worse.”
“You didn’t have to subscribe to get all of the games, I just used my old school account but now they are treating me like a guest. Feels like, unless this is changed, I would have to say ‘goodbye’ to Sumdog forever.”
“This app dosent even let me log in. it wont let me type either. soo…. I didnt really get a chance to play a game. but you can play it online!”
