Product Review of Strip Designer

Strip Designer allows learners to create their own personal comic books from personal or classroom photos. With more than 100 included templates, learners insert their photos, add filters, text balloons, word stickers like “BANG” or “POW,” and even draw directly on their comic strips within the app. Once learners have completed their comic strips, the files are easy to share via email, Facebook, Twitter, or save as a PDF. Strip Designer can be used as an engagement tool in literacy class for writing hesitant learners, to create final projects across any subject, or as a fun reward.

What Users Love About the App
“This one is a wonder for prepping up comics that look professional and especially custom, as well as handling some mundane tasks like meming and basic editing. Never have had any issues from iPhones 6-X.”
“I found it is far better in every way. You need to spend some times going through all the options if you want to go beyond the quick basic comic. Some very slick results could be had.”
“I am in love with this app! There are so many options for the number of photos, types of fonts, and extra add-ons. I want to turn everything into a comic!!”
“Very well done app. Developers keep enriching it. I have had it since it first came out and I use it all the time. They continue to add features that make it more versatile without over complicating”
“This app is more than a comic strip maker – it’s a full-fledged graphics program with more functionality than a lot of the supposedly top graphics apps. The ability to add your own fonts alone makes this app best in class – I can’t believe more apps don’t allow for this.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“Last couple of times I’ve opened this app it’s practically been inoperable. It used to work like a charm but lately it’s terribly laggy to the point it’s practically unusable. Please fix it.’
“It’s only gotten worse. It now barely functions and force closes whenever I try and open a project. I’m running an iPhone 7 Plus so it’s not like I have a terribly old phone. Wish this worked better because in the beginning it was awesome. Now not so much.”
“I realized that this program is very touch sensitive in that you have to be aware of what item is highlighted in the overall comic template, as the highlighted item will be the only item that can be manipulated.”
“The quote box tails- they are really not shaped right, and it’s painful because the rest of the app is SO good. But the tails are just poorly shaped, too chunky, and when you put them at an angle (as you often must in comics), the tail base awkwardly protrudes over the box edge and it’s just wrong.”
“Font chooser could be more intuitive please. I use this app for creating signage in my store. My request is that you be able to have an option of a blank background that doesn’t require a photo. And the ability to use layered images and cutout images.”
