Product Review of Spacecraft AR

This app uses augmented reality to bring spacecraft to your classroom or home to explore. Created by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Spacecraft AR allows learners to investigate spacecraft in their true size or as a scaled down tabletop version. Students can take pictures with the spacecraft, learn facts about their missions, and interact with the models from every angle. Well-known spacecraft such as the Curiosity Rover, Opportunity, InSight, SMAP, Voyager, Juno, and Cassini are included.

What Users Love About the App
“Pretty cool way to visualize spacecraft! Works decently well on my old little Samsung A5, surprised how big ingenuity was! Though I guess it totally makes sense since it was dropped off by a SUV sized rover. Looking forward to seeing Dragonfly when it’s mission is ready!”
“Fantastic use of AR technology for education. So cool being able to view detailed, 3d models of spacecraft in your own home. I was really surprised how well it worked. Can’t wait to see more added in the future!”
“Spacecraft AR is my favourite Augmented Reality application. I am regularly using this tool as part of the Augmented Reality demonstration during my workshop session. I am creating an awareness about this tool more than 10 to 15 workshop participants. I love this tool.”
“It is amazing to see the Curiosity mars rover a d Juno spacecraft at full scale in my living room. Great job NASA!”
“Wow!!!, this app is amazing. Lovely AR version of many rockets, rovers, satellite etc. Totally loved it.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“I have an S10 with Android 10 and the app doesn’t work!! After selecting the mission and the vehicle, I’m supposed to see everything in 3d with the camera, but I can’t. The screen stays black and it asks me to “move the phone around in circles until the app detects a horizontal surface”. It never finds such “surface”.”
“All I got was moving in circles I have a samsung s20 come on NASA you can people into space but you can’t sort an app out really sad.”
“Does not work on Galaxy Note 8. Just an endless loop of “move your phone in circles”.”
“Add more spacecrafts: Parker solar probe, Saturn V, Space Shuttle, New Horizons.”
“I guess I just look like an idiot trying to get this thing to work waving my phone in circles to no content.”
