What Users Love About the App
“Great app for messaging. The technology behind it is the most advanced when it comes to privacy. And it’s not owned by someone that makes money on your data! I wish more people used it.”
“Regular updates with real improvements make it better and better. Voice much clearer & consistent than WhatsApp. Which, to me, is a little strange…. given that both must be using pretty similar tech. I can only assume that the independent one to one connection of SIGNAL is truly that….one to one.”
“It’s comforting having a renewed sense of privacy in a world where there is so little remaining. I just cannot understand why people just give so much about themselves online to other message services that are, cards on the table, reading your personal thoughts.”
“Good interface, easy to use, and peer reviewed security! I’ve used Signal for a few months now. When I first downloaded it at the encouragement of a couple of friends, I got it for the security features.”
“So far it seems to run like a dream. I would have to compare the experience with when I used messenger. That is not a good experience at all. This was a smooth and easy as could be. Everything works well it was just nice.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“Group chat is horribly out of sync. Also if anyone sends you a message while you have no connection (network issues or your phone is off) forget about ever receiving them. You will get notifications that a message has been sent but you can’t download it even when you have mms setting, press download, have data, wifi, reset setting etc.”
“A great security focused app, no doubt. But you guys need to sort out the power consumption. This app is a battery hog! Another thing need fixing is the screen-off while in call. I have a couple of different flagship devices with different proximity sensors placement, and the screen-off sucks on all of them!”
“Messages that have not been read are no longer in bold, so you can’t tell that you have a new message except for on the home screen and then when you click in, they all look the same. You need to fix this.”
“App is no longer completely open source. I would like to think it hasn’t been pressured by the US government to install a back door under the pretense of spam filtering, but time will tell. I’ve never received a single spam text that was end to end encrypted so I don’t understand why they have to have something server side to prevent spam.”
“The new update makes it impossible to crop photos. If you try to crop from the bottom, it’s too close to the rotation Target area. If you’re going to add new features, maybe test them first?”
