Product Review of Redbird Mathematics

Redbird Mathematics provides learners in grades K-7 with a personalized mathematics learning path by leveraging adaptive instruction, gamification, and digital project-based learning. This allows the platform to deliver precisely what each learner needs to develop math fluency and aptitude. Every unit of Redbird Mathematics is integrated with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) theme. The learner can select units, which are highlighted in red, and finish each unit with a digital project-based learning activity focused on the unit’s topic. It’s no secret that learners regularly struggle with math. However, most education experts feel the issue is more about motivation and engagement than ability and aptitude.

What Users Love About the App
“Overall this is the best math program that I have used with my students. My class is a Personalized Learning classroom and after trying multiple programs, this one kept the students engaged longer and at a rigor that was individualized and appropriated for that student at their level.”
“It helps me know exactly what math level each of my students are at and which skills they specifically need more review with. It also lets me know which students are excelling which helps me know how to support the Advanced Students. The students like the graphics, games and general layout of the program.”
“I would strongly recommend redbird math for any teacher who is looking for adaptive software to help students succeed in math. I love that it has games and STEM projects to help students stay engaged. I also love the progress model where I can see how my students are doing.”
“I still strongly recommend redbird mathematics. After using redbird math I have seen the power of using adaptive software to support learners and will always incorporate it into my math classes in the future.”
“It is easy to implement in the classroom, and I love that it is individualized instruction for students. It is repetitive and really addresses the standard of mathematical practice that asks students to look for and make use of structure.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“It would be nice if there were more choices on how students could learn a topic. The main way students learn information is through reading. It would be nice if there were videos in addition to the reading.”
“One thing I would like to see is an easier way to sign students up for accounts. Normally I do this for the teachers. But what if I am not available to do this? Then it is left up to the teacher to do which means sometimes it is weeks into the start of school before it is ready.”
“Make it available for 8th grade so middle schools will have access. This way they can go through the whole process through middle school.”
“I want a social component for students to be able to share achievements and send encouragements and challenges. I want more focus on the student’s profile (upload a photo, input and measure achievement goals) so that they can feel invested.”
“It’s priced too high. I think the graphics are adequate, but they convey work; there isn’t an element of playfulness that might be more appealing for children.”
