Product Review of Quizizz

This app is similar to Quizalize; however, it uses fun avatars and memes to make up for its lack of fast-paced competitive activities. Quizizz uses live gameplay or engaging assigned homework to help kids learn at their own pace.

What Users Love About the App
“In Quizizz, I like that I can check for understanding in my math classes. I use the create a lesson option and make daily, short warm-ups. I can see how many in the class understand a concept and if I need to review that topic again.”
“I use Quizizz as a weekly quiz. It grades it automatically and inputs it into my Google Classroom. I use Quizizz as daily homework assignments sometimes too. The students can play Quizizzes during the week as many times as they want to get proficient in a topic area.”
“I love that it allows me to give the students more time than other game sites. In math, especially in the older grades, problems become more complex and I want my students to take their time to work out each step. Quizzizz allows me to do that and the students do not feel rushed to just pick an answer.”
“I use Quizizz in my class as a quiz/test review tool. My students treat it as a game and enjoy it just as much, if not more, than Kahoot. Because of this, they enjoy Quizizz and engage with it for the entirety of the game, rather than losing interest halfway through like they would in a regular test review session.”
“Quizizz has more modern graphics than other programs and a better free version. The basic (free) version for teachers is limited to 100 participants, which is usually enough. The other program is limited to 10. They also have great music and features like “eliminate two wrong answers.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“At this point, I dislike that they keep changing their policies, and they keep changing their documentation. I just hope they don’t get greedy and try to monetize the program beyond what most teachers can afford.”
“The only thing I don’t like is how the format for the questions when the quiz is ready to be printed is not flexible. I want to find different views that suit my needs in class and not just the standard.”
“When a quiz is given, the results are still on student’s phones after taking the quiz. This means that students could show students from later classes the questions and answers. So I need to make sure that the quizzes are different.”
“Sometimes it encourages students to rush through the questions rather than slowing down to think. I have to set the pacing or get rid of the timer so that students can slow down and not rush. I also would like it to show explanations for the correct answers so that students can see why they are getting problems wrong.”
“I dislike how some once-free features are now premium only. For instance, I cannot schedule a homework game far in advance. I must wait until the day or two before the game’s time frame to create the game and share out the game link.”
