What Users Love About the App
“The biggest upside to pikmykid is the fact that students no longer have to rely on being called for pickup over a loudspeaker system. The user error with this is high, and students often miss their name being called, resulting in a parking line being severely backed up. With pikmykid, the student names are projected on the board for all to see.”
“I like not having to go outside and stand up in the heat with 20+ students. I just project PikMyKid on my smart screen board in class, and the students are able to see their names pop up on the screen. They then grab their book bags, and leave.”
“I love that you can see the students’ names in your classroom that is going to be picked up, without having to hear names constantly being blasted over an intercom system.”
“I like the ability in Pik My Kid to create a virtual line of cars who have announced they are here to pick up their kids. They are also able to delegate others to pick their kids up or let us know the child will be walking or taking the bus one day.”
“PikMyKid has helped a lot with phone management in the front office because the parents can make the transportation changes on their end. This system is also very helpful in social distancing since the teachers hold the students in their classroom until their parents are at the school to pick them up.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“We have struggled with EASILY identifying transportation changes on the classroom/teacher side of this program. We continue to struggle with getting accurate transportation change updates. The app and/or website doesn’t always work during dismissal time.”
“The software doesn’t constantly link with our operating system and so we have to manually enter new students. I think it would also be easier for the system to already have the next student number in place so that we don’t have to keep track of the next student’s number.”
“While the customer satisfaction reps are GREAT, I wish there was a way to upload corrections to the database. I also wish that rather than using their generated “School ID Number”, the primary key for students was the actual student number issued by the state.”
“It took a while to learn how to correctly use the features, and which dashboard to be on to be able to accurately dismiss students from the classroom. You need to have robust parent training as well to ensure that parents only use the check-in feature when they are in line…or your dismissal will be off.”
“We did encounter a few mistakes with student grades/phone numbers from the file we sent for PikMyKid to upload. While it was only a few students, we didn’t know about it until it was in front of us and a problem.”
