Product Review of PBIS Rewards

This is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) resource that offers an automated intraschool positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) management system. The program makes setting up and monitoring the performance of the PBIS framework within a school straightforward and hitch-free. School administrators can use this program to track educator adoption of PBIS and the effects it has on the school.

What Users Love About the App
“This app has improved over the last year and a half since we have been using it at my elementary school. The developers are so helpful and open to new ideas. Any time there is an issue, they are on top of it right away.”
“The use of this app has gone so well, we have been contacted by many other schools who are interested in how we have used it. The data we get from the system is super helpful!”
“PBIS Rewards has been so great for our school! We have seen so much growth in positivity and change on our campus not only in our students but staff as well. For our students, the change is being witnessed in behavior, which is also benefitting our kids with academics. The kids absolutely love this new system.”
“PBIS Rewards has been an amazing addition to our school! We are a comprehensive high school with over 3000 students. There are many different programs to choose from but PBIS Rewards is the only program that contains all of the elements needed to successfully implement PBIS systems.”
“The program is extremely user friendly and simple to use requiring minimal clicks and an effective graphical presentation. We have given out over 110,000 points already this year and over 60 different teachers have online stores up and running for redeeming those points.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“Program is built on an inherently flawed system of awarding points for behavior, putting teacher in charge of deciding what is of value. This devalues students’ intrinsic motivation. Awarding points, by its very nature, is practicing behaviorist theory and not humanistic.”
“I was eager to download the app to more easily reward my students for their hard work. Unfortunately, every time I attempt to log in, I repeatedly get the error: The connection to the server was unsuccessful. (file:///android_asset/www/index.htlm) I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and I have tried restarting my phone. Nothing has resolved the issue.”
“Scanner is extremely slow. App has not been working at all for over a week. I have to use the desktop (website) only.”
“It’s pretty easy to use except when I have to transition to the teacher rewards. I have to hard close the app every time to get back to the student section. There needs to be an easier way to get back and forth.”
“PBIS Reward’s platform stinks— it crashes, isn’t easy to give individual points to students, and just takes a lot of time on the teacher side to reward students. My second graders are not motivated by its platform.”
