What Users Love About the App
“The app connects to the whole world’s birders in one place. It is a great initiative towards bird conservation. Thanks to the Cornell Lab.”
“This is an absolutely amazing app!! It is so helpful in the field and in the house if you just want to look at birds. The photography is stunning, and the descriptions are spot-on! The calls are absolutely remarkable, and the distribution maps are incredible.”
“Enjoying the experience. Nice supplement for any birding. Helps when you the bird name is on the tip of your tongue.”
“I love being able to review each of ky checklists, track my life list, and look at maps of species and hotspots around the world. All the data is presented so neatly, and in such a way that it makes it exciting and enjoyable to imagine future birding trips”
“Superb piece of kit! Handy checklists for the area when out and about, you can see what other people have seen in the area, and it is giving a ton of scientific data to be used worldwide too. It would be nice to see it linked in with Merlin app with some id cues. Also able to upload media with photos and audio recordings on the desktop via browser.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“The app has stopped working again and is rife with error messages. Wiped out my previous checklists after updating and restarting my phone. The app worked for a while. I had been using it regularly. But a few months ago it stopped working.”
“It just doesn’t work. It opens, AND it lets me sign in to my account. But that’s it — it doesn’t access my lists. The map never populates; whether I move around to look for hotspots, or want to see bird sighting info, the map just spins and never produces info. Bummer.”
“Review specific to sideloading on a Fire HD 11th Gen. On the iPhone, this app is an easy 5 stars. But it doesn’t work on my android device. Cannot see my account info and bird packs don’t show up”
“The Android app I am using have below issues. 1. Sharing with other users not working. 2. Checklist shared by others is not visible to me. 3. I reinstalled the app, all my ‘not submitted’ checklists vanished.”
“The basic process of setting up an account and login is impossible without being sent in circles. For example, the simple act of changing a password does not work. When I tried to change the password, hoping I could log in, I clicked on the sent link seconds after receiving the email and it said I had waited for more than 24 hours and the password couldn’t be changed!”
