What Users Love About the App
“I like the simple interface of Lexia. It is not full of games and comic book-looking graphics. It moves students along at a nice pace and does a good job of teaching vocabulary and word meanings. It also comes loaded with resources for the teacher, so that you can personalize instruction based on student need. Students seem to like the program, so that’s an added bonus.”
“Lexia is set up to meet students where they are and then help them excel. The program gives weekly goals and assigns academic-level appropriate tasks for students. Teachers can see work completed, areas of struggle, and additional connected resources–both in print and digital to further support students.”
“A student-paced program with graphics that are appealing to elementary students makes Lexia appear like a great program for early readers. Initial results were quite promising.”
“Lexia is a good way to learn how to read and when you do one of the activities there and you get it wrong, they give you another chance so you can fix your mistake and I love when you read a book there because when you do the questions, they let you go back to the book so you don’t forget any details.”
“My teacher has recommended this app for me because of my problem of reading slow and now I am starting to read a little bit faster every day because I do Lexia this is the best app ever for learning how to read.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“I dislike that I cannot assign lessons for extra practice to my students. I don’t know if it spiral reviews very well because many students need extra help in vocabulary topics which they have already passed in Lexia. Many of my 5th graders finish the program well before the end of their 5th grade year, so I’m not sure that it is as rigorous as other programs on the market.”
“There is a little bit of a learning curve, but the in-program learning and availability of online support make it easy to understand and implement into any learning situation.”
“Students quickly become frustrated with the program – either because of boredom or because they get frustrated. Lexia does not do a good job of adjusting to the specific needs of individual learners. Downloadable content is not helpful and progress reports/monitoring is not consistent with other benchmark materials we use.”
“This app isn’t the worst but it could be better. First it could be faster to load because it does take a while to load. Second I can see how this app can be good for younger kids but for kids that are in maybe 3rd grade but are on a higher level than others, they would need harder questions. Like maybe make the levels harder and harder the higher you are.”
“It is trash, it shuts me down and makes me not want to do anything. Most of the time it is glitchy and my teachers make me do this. Even at home. This app is just a bad substitute for a teacher. I rather just learn by the teacher, not this. And a lot of times the things are not on topic.”
