Product Review of IWitness

This game is designed to build empathy and social awareness among kids using the Holocaust as the reference point. From their dashboard, educators can hand out tasks to kids, which include testimonies, archives, and a video editing project that allows kids to tell their own stories from what they have learned. Students can also work together or individually to search, watch, listen, learn, and build word clouds while they work with multimedia activities.

What Users Love About the App
“I wish that I had known more about IWitness when I was actually in the classroom. However, I am definitely sharing it with teachers I work with so that their students can utilize it. The depth of knowledge that this provides students is beyond compare.”
“As we progress through time, we are losing many eyewitnesses to historical events. This resource provides a way of maintaining those resources and allowing students to actually interact with the past in a concrete way.”
“It is one thing to teach a student about a historical concept and quite another to have them actually interacting with the history and listening to people who were there. IWitness definitely puts a face to history and encourages a deeper understanding of our past.”
“What I really like about the activities and modules is that they encourage student collaboration and review towards the end. This would be a resource I would use either individually or in small groups to review events and provide deeper understanding.”
“Such a unique and very much needed research and preservation of a most important part of our history. Because of the USC Shoah Foundation generations to come will be able to hear firsthand testimonials of the Survives!!!”
