What Users Love About the App
“Grammaropolis is a clever and enjoyable way of learning grammar. Hard to believe, but it actually can make it fun for both students and parents of students studying grammar! I learned some things starting with the very first song, even though it is targeted to grades 2 – 8; my guess is that anyone much younger AND much older than that could absorb and learn from this.”
“Students can use this app in small groups or independently (classwork or homework) to practice grammar. There are really cute videos to teach about grammar and they have quizzes to check for understanding.”
“I really like this website. Grammar is such a dull topic that the videos and characters make it more engaging. It was especially beneficial for my ELLs and IEP kids. They consistently scored 90% or higher on the quizzes attached to the lessons. I also like that it starts with the basic parts of speech but breaks it down into more complex ideas.”
“This app is great to have in class to practice skills that need to be strengthened. The app is versatile enough that parents are able to use it with their children. Various features include mini movies, music videos, lessons, and games. Student engagement remains high with the fun graphics and music. Independent practice for students on something as boring as grammar is much more fun and engaging with this app.”
“I am a bilingual 4th grade teacher and this website has engaged my students through the learning process. Part of the curriculum in 4th grade is teaching writing. My students have become better writers because they understand grammar a little more now. I have really enjoyed Grammaropolis.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“This app is just plain horrible, none of the buttons seem to work and the presentation in no way grabs a child’s attention.”
“I read another review that said the same thing. I thought surely they must not know how to work the app. Nope, it’s the app! Glad I tried the free version first!”
“Could hardly hear the words over the music. But very catchy tunes”
“The sound doesn’t work, making this app useless. They also do not have an active support site, it seems. Many people are trying to reach them on Facebook after failing to get a support email returned. Facebook hasn’t been updated in months.”
“I can’t know for sure because despite the app showing the sound is on, my iPad’s sound being fully turned up, every other sound-making app on my iPad working, this app refuses to play any sound.”
