Product Review of Edgenuity Courseware

In alignment with standards, Edgenuity offers a comprehensive suite of 6–12 digital English language arts (ELA) curriculum. English language arts standards set expectations in reading, writing, and language to help ensure all learners are college and career ready. The standards focus on learners reading closely to draw evidence from the text and are emphatic about learners reading texts of adequate range and complexity. Edgenuity’s ELA courses focus on building knowledge and deeper learning through complex texts, writing to sources and supporting arguments with textual evidence, and regular practice with academic language.

What Users Love About the App
“I like that the students are able to work at their own pace while doing the assignments and projects. I like that it gives the students percentages and scores on lessons and tests. Also, being able to reset an assignment will force the student to go back and listen to the lesson more carefully.”
“The videos seem to be helping the students. I like that we are able to see lesson mastery reports. This helps me to see which students need the most help in certain topics.”
“What I liked most was the ability to easily modify courses for my special education students. Additionally, the program made individual course assignments for Tier II and III intervention readily accessible. I really like being able to set retakes with and without students being able to review previous answers.”
“Some of the tests were interesting to read. I like how lessons are built on each other. Students were able to tell what they scored immediately and were able to tell how far they were in their progress.”
“I liked that students can self-pace and watch videos again. I also liked the option to print guided notes with the option of teacher-filled guided notes. I have students all over the school, but I am able to access all their work in one location.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“The biggest complaint from students was that the videos were boring. I teach middle school students and many found the speakers to be monotone.”
“It was good for the core and basic courses, but I wish there were more options for advanced courses and CTE courses such as Health Science, A&P, Patho, Accounting, etc.”
“Many of my students have learning deficits, and although you can “modify” the course, it was not always user-friendly to my students. I would have liked options to modify the course in a way where I could make changes within the assignments and quizzes instead of simply eliminating them.”
“There was a glitch that caused students who completed coursework to regress and show incomplete percent. We were unable to speak to customer service or support person.”
“I would like to split the units and have more control over the unit tests. Some of the units are too long. However, if you split them into two or more units, the unit tests are affected.”
