What Users Love About the App
“My special needs students love this app. Plenty of high-interest activities with great graphics and an easy-to-use interface. I do have a couple of things on my wish list. I would like to be able to select a level and create user profiles to track progress. Lastly, the balancing equations activity includes the target number, so kids are frequently just working on identifying numbers instead of finding two numbers that add up to the target number. I’m sure this responsive developer will be adding more features. Highly recommended for pre–school, kindergarten, and special needs kids.”
“This app has 9 different games that teach and reinforce number concepts. The app is designed so that children can travel to the different game stations via car, balloon, rocket, sub, or boat. The games can also be accessed through the main menu map. The design engages and encourages learning play. This app has a good balance between learning and play. Children enjoy traveling around the game in the various vehicles and crafts, but the traveling gameplay is not engaging enough in and of itself for continued play. The children in my class keep coming back to this app. This app is great for 1-10 number concepts.”
“I really love this math app for preschoolers and kindergarteners. In addition to helping strengthen skills such as counting, addition, and direction following, I like this app because it helps strengthen handwriting and fine motor skills (ex, number tracing). The graphics are cool and my little one was very engaged.”
“Drive About: Number Neighborhood is math-made fun for children learning early math skills! In this app, children can drive around town and discover the world of math with beautiful graphics, fun animation, as they are guided by narrated instructions. There are 9 fun mini-games, which take place on land, under the sea, in the clouds, and in space! Kids can also navigate by boat, rocket, hot air balloon, and submarine! This app helps children learn many early math skills, including counting, number recognition, ordering, shapes, and more! What is more fun than learning math while feeding a whale with a long shot or helping a yak snowboard down a mountain? The app has no IAPs, ads, and all links are secured. I recommend this app!”
What Users Dislike About the App
“I thought there would be more maps or at least more content for the cost. My kid got through this pretty quickly.”
“Once you finish all the games, there’s nothing else to do, and you won’t get any more achievements.”
“Games aren’t scored, and progress isn’t tracked, which could be challenging for kids who expect motivational rewards.”
“It was very similar to many of the preschool math apps that are out there. It only has 9 mini-games, which seems like a lot, but they can get repetitious and boring after a while because no new challenges are being presented. As a general math practice and review app for preschool, it fits the bill for occasional use but should not be used frequently.”
