Product Review of Course Hero

Spread the love

A platform where members can access various academic contents needed to thrive for set goals at any point, anywhere in the world. It was designed in 2008 by a learner who missed a class and thought about how he could work out a way of getting materials and class notes without having to ask a stranger.

Website: https://www.coursehero.com/

What Users Love About the App

“I like it. When you take a course, you can access the documents of people who have taken the same class, which can be of crucial help. I like how easy it is to navigate the platform. Course Hero tutors well.”

“I like Course Hero’s ease of access for students and professionals alike. There are over 40 million resources accessible to the public with homework help and e–books. With the textbook features, there are also answer guides that will help you practice and check your work on problems. I like how you can also sort by college and course to find specific materials for what you’re actually learning. Professors are also able to guide you and provide help alongside the tutors that Course Hero provides to help you with tough problems and lead you in the right direction.”

“This website, hands down, has EVERYTHING you need to study. You can also sell your notes.”

“I can upload ten documents of my own to gain access to the work of other students and professors. There is a large database that you can use to reference work.”

“What I like best about Course Hero is that they make it really easy to get paid. A lot of other sites may deceive you, but with Course Hero it’s straightforward and you can get your earnings in minutes.”

“I came to college in the US from a different country. There were a few subjects I was not very familiar with. So, I had to look for stuff online to help me keep up and I found Course Hero. It improved my academic experience in a significant way so I used it through all of my college years. My favorite part of Course Hero by far is the infographic section. I am a person that likes things to be summarised. Course Hero has tons of useful ones that I still use today to recap some concepts. The second thing that I enjoyed the most was the college articles section. I love to read blogs, especially the ones that I can immediately act on, and the ones in Course Hero are great because they keep it short and sweet but are super useful. Since we experience college differently back home, I was not sure what to expect once here so it was a really good aid. And finally, the literature infographics helped me discover how much I enjoy reading once I learn about the context of a certain book.”

“Course Hero enables me to better prepare for my exams by providing me access to notes and study material composed by previous students who took the same class. The website has documents for almost every school in the US and also some international universities. They also offer a feature where students can ask questions to an expert tutor if they are stuck. The quantity of content covered is amazing and some of the explanations are really detailed. It is a great way to prepare for assignments and exams. Their website has good scholarship opportunities for students as well.”

What Users Dislike About the App

“When I had set it up, I thought it was a one-time payment initially for 1 year. I did not know they were going to re-charge me even though I am done with school. They don’t have a proper support team to cancel and ask for a refund, and they charge a ridiculous amount for something that is not great. Apparently, they force you to set up an account with a recurring payment and force you to save your payment option to their site to get a minor help that they offer. I do not recommend this to anyone and would suggest going with another provider.”

“Unfortunately, there are a lot of documents that get published onto the platform that is not owned by the person uploading them. I think the service should be more strict about which documents they allow to be published.”

“What I dislike about Course Hero is that they can be very strict when you make mistakes, and it’s very easy to get reported by students when they are unsatisfied with the answer. Us tutors do our best to help; if a student is unhappy with the help they received, then the tutor should not be reported. In addition to that, the actual process of waiting for your earnings to post to your account takes a long time.”

“I dislike that there are frequent ads on the website and that you often have to upload your own work to see that of others. I also found the tutoring feature to be slower than what they advertise it to be. They claim help is given in under 15 minutes, but I have found that not to be the case in all courses.”

“You are very limited in what information is available. You will need to purchase credits to view locked answers and study guides. It is very pushy and exclusive.”

“I don’t like how easy it is to plagiarise via Course Hero. I don’t particularly appreciate how tutors and experts who are not experts in the field give random answers to your inquiries and questions. I also don’t like how pricey the premium membership is.”

“The topics are tricky to find at times. A pay–as–you–go option, a la carte, would also be helpful.”
