Product Review of Come Learn Spellings

This is an easy-to-use app that consists of over 150 words split between eight sections. It makes use of flashcards that are programmed to help kids learn word spelling. Learned words are also repeated to allow for mastery of both simple and more difficult words. The app can be used without parental or adult supervision.
What Users Love About the App
“Great app! Good for simple learning. I hope whoever created this adds a feature where you can add your own words and create sentences, in addition to some phonics for learning how to read.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“The big negative is that your child has to listen to every letter be repeated every single time they want to hear the name for the item on the screen. For example, a picture of a leg is shown so the child has to hear “L E G” over and over again. It would be nice to have an option to only hear the name of the time and not ever letter. Good luck.”
“If the developer can’t manage to make the title and description grammatically correct, there isn’t much hope that the game will be able to teach kids how to spell correctly. Unless you have the time to sit and review every single word—which most parents don’t—you would never know. Do you really want to risk having your kids learn something as crucial as spelling incorrectly?”
“I like the concept, but I wish I could click on each letter to hear that specific letter again. It also seems a little less professional than others, with the different voices reading the letters before saying the word. Not bad, but it just strikes me as being a little homemade. I also don’t like the s on the end of Spelling in the title.”
“As a teacher, I would prefer real pictures of things, as opposed to drawings of food and other things. Real pictures with faces on them. More importantly, the days of the week and the months of the year NEED to be capitalized! Other than that, it is good.”
