Product Review of ClaroSpeak

This is a text-to-speech app that allows for high-quality output. It can be used to proofread texts using the voice feature. The integration feature also allows direct text-to-speech conversion from Mail, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
What Users Love About the App
“Simple interface makes it accessible to kids of varying ages and needs.”
“ClaroSpeak has four educational advantages over free Text–to–Speech apps that justify its modest price (2.99 for iPad). 1)Highlighting options enable the user to select a word, phrase, or sentence. 2) Ability to select from 5 speaking speeds.3) Word prediction to aid document editing. 4) Options for saving edited documents.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“Voice choices are limited unless you make in-app purchases.”
“ClaroSpeak could be improved by including speakers of different types of “English.”
It would also be helpful to import files from Dropbox without internet access. Currently, the app reads documents offline but requires internet to fetch them.”
“This is a wonderful app. I use it more and more every day for my college readings. I ask that the word limit (set at 20,000 words) be removed or changed to a million words. It is an unnecessary limitation with newer and newer iPhones having more RAM and better processors. I have some PDF documents that are very long that I would like to export as audio.”
“I purchased the bundle thinking it would be great for my dyslexic daughter. Unfortunately, it is terrible. The voices are terrible; they don’t flow like a human voice. Words are not spoken correctly. For the cost of this software/app, everything should be accurate. I want my money back.”
“The idea of the app is amazing, but when I use the camera to “scan” text, it somehow converts the text in the picture to random letters, numbers, and signs. I wasted $10.”
