Product Review of Baby Sign & Learn

Research has shown that babies who understand sign language develop verbal communication faster than their peers who don’t. This app makes the process of learning to sign fun for you and your kid. Baby Sign Learn is designed for kids under the age of 5.
What Users Love About the App
“I love that it shows the color/item, but the sign is hard sometimes. I need to watch it several times, but my grandson loves it. I need more. I want to get good enough to both sign and read “Brown Bear.” My 2 month old grandson just stares while his big brother turns to random pages.”
“I loved this app so much that I had to buy the full version. My son was born at 23 weeks, so he was deleyed a bit in talking and not only did this app help him learn some signs, but he started talking while using this app. He’s now 6 and is one of the smartest kids in his class. I am now teaching his baby brother, who is 8 months, sign language. Also, my oldest worked on this app by himself at age 2 and he loved it.”
“This app makes me feel good about time in front of the tablet now. My little one’s favorite game. She’s picked up almost all of the signs and repeats the word, too! She blew my mind when she accidentally went into the quiz and started answering! I think the babies mesmerize her. She gets bored with all the other games, exits, and finds her “babies.” We have the other singing app too, we wish there were more!”
“Very educational. I used this with my grandson and it really works. He would get so frustrated trying to tell us when he needed something. Now he just signs and tell us exactly what he wants. I think he loves it the most. Now he knows how to communicate what he wants, instead of crying out of frustration. He is a very happy baby now. Thank you so much!”
“Just purchased. It has very cute animations and clear speech with Auslan. It would be great if there was a play or return button on each video. Playing a video once isn’t enough before returning to word list. Some play a little too quickly and it’s harder for very young ones to focus that quick. Other than that, well done, we’re loving it.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“Very disappointed! The only reason I gave a star was to be able to write a review. I purchased this app to teach my 2 yearold (who is not talking yet and is a late talker) more sign language. She’s only able to use this app successfully when assisted and the app doesn’t seem to be geared towards children. I’ve found only adults/children who can read are able to navigate it. I would absolutely find the app helpful If it were just me using it. Also, when going to uninstall, the refund button disappeared? Just a heads up.”
“You can’t save favorite signs. Signs are poorly animated with too much focus on animating the babie’s mouths and not enough on the hand doing the action. This app is mostly a waste of money.”
“Good app, but as others have mentioned the video demos are too fast. No sooner has the app loaded the screen to show the video of the selected word that it’s already half way through it. The app needs a small pause before the video and a repeat button rather than automatically going back to the word list after the video. Also, the number of signs is not 300, it’s about 90 for BSL. The catagory places only has 2 in it, one of them being “Farm.” All in all, this is a useless app.”
“Great app, pity the signs are wrong! I bought this app after using the light version. My daughter loved it, and the little animation clips were great. Then, I discovered that despite clicking for the BSL signs, some of the signs weren’t BSL. A great shame it is, as the app is now useless to me. It had the potential to be very helpful.”
“I would give 5 stars if there was an option to quiz by category, especially “Favourites,” since I’ve isolated the most important words for my baby to learn first. The quiz tests all of the words at once, which is too much to learn in a given moment. It’s not very useful for learning at the pace the baby and parents need.”
