What Users Love About the App
“Babble is very good in motivating you to move forward. It is very helpful. The digital methodology is perfect.”
“I started using Babel a couple of weeks ago and have been practising each lesson with my husband, who is Italian (he is a terrible teacher, though). Using this program is an excellent way to become competent in conversational language skills. Highly recommended.”
“This style of teaching is flexible for different learning styles and, by offering this variety, a language can really be learned online. It’s a great way to learn, certainly better that other competitors.”
“What I like about Babbel is that “all is practical” in terms of vocabulary, conversation settings and learning order. Also, it is good at explaining grammar. Last but not least, lots of reviews are prepared every day, so if you stick to what Babbel offers you’ll learn German quickly.”
“I’ve tried different apps to learn German; lots of grammar points were not clear enough to me, so I wasn’t making real progress. BABBEL is a very complete app that helps me understand details that I need, and sets a strong basis for me as a beginner. I already more confident, even if I still have lot to learn.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“This basic learning course is good but you cannot sign up unless you have AUTO-BILLING. You will be charged every month, or year, automatically even if you you want out. This is a scam that authorities should look into.”
“It’s good for picking up Spanish, but I’m 3 months in and I’m getting irritated by the irregular pace of the modules. In the building vocab modules, the introduction of words and their repetition is perfectly paced. The verbs, however, are trickier. They bunch loads together! One at a time, please! Instead of have consistency so that you can remember things, they change the scenarios, so you get caught out. I understand this is to make you think, but it needs more repetition to consolidate new verbs first. A quick reference area for the verbs would be helpful. Also, in Apple Pay, there are three different prices for a 3 month subscription! I contacted Babbel to ask what the different prices are for and got no response. That’s a big thumbs down for customer service. They need to be more approachable. You’re better off buying a book or going to a class. I will not renew my subscription.”
”Before starting Babbel I used the free Duolingo version. Although I might have not been learning very quickly, at least I was not frustrated. I signed up for Babbel for 50% off, a good thing, because I was told it was better. Despite the quality of the lesson material, I am not learning anything except to be frustrated. I do not learn well from rote memorization of phrases without some explanation. There seems to be no balance between theory and rote memorization, and way toomuch content without gradually building up. This is like language immersion, but without people to give immediate feed back. This just doesn’t work for me.”
“It is my understanding that the Spanish language originated in Spain, so why do you have a Mexican flag for those who want to learn Spanish? Mexico is NOT the only Spanish speaking country. Where are the flags of all the other countries whose language is Spanish?”
“I had a very bad experience with the app, and it had unacceptable customer support. I bought a license Babbel and the application does not work. It does not recognize the user as being “premium” vs “Freemium.” After a couple of emails to the support email address ([email protected]), there is absolutely no answer. Move to something else but don’t buy Babbel.”
