Product Review of Augment

Augment aims to connect the divide between the real and virtual worlds. It allows you to view 3-D images in the physical environment using your iOS or Android mobile device. Teachers can create models to share with their learners, explain otherwise hard concepts, and provide links for further learning. The app also features technical support for schools looking to integrate 3-D learning into their curriculum.

What Users Love About the App
“Although there are only a few items to place, I can see the potential. I can see online shops where you can click a button and place a product in your home to see what looks best. I think this is the marketing tool of the future. When I placed a statue in my living room I was very impressed, but I was amazed when I walked around and the object stayed in place as if it was real. The perspective changed flawlessly. This rating is for what this technology could be.”
“Sweet, baby Jesus! This application is incredible. After a short sign up process I started my free trial and had my 3-Dmodel of a remodel project uploaded. After printing the qr code tracker out I hesitantly placed it on the floor and started the app. Mother of God! I’m looking and walking around a scale model of the 3-D render! This is so cool! Also, the web interface for seeing your 3-D model in a browser is the slickest and best I’ve tried yet (and I’ve tried at least 5 other 3-Dmodel viewers).”
“I love the app. I used a dinosaur model to make a video on my farm, and I had all my staff believing it was real. I had so much fun and a good, good laugh. On a more serious note, I also used the app to place couches in my house and some awesome landscape in gardening. I haven’t had the chance to use the full app but I’m definitely looking forward to it. This is a great app; I highly recommend it.”
“Super awesome app. It really gives me a super AR experience. Plus, it’s also easy to use. I have surprised my whole family with this app. I love it.”
“This app is very good. The dancing shark is showing me dances. I have never seen a dancing shark before, it looks very real. This is a great app.”
What Users Dislike About the App
“I haven’t used the app much yet but noticed I can no longer move it to the SD card with the latest version. That made updating it while the previous version was on the SD card quite a hassle. It would have been nice to be warned that this aspect was changed.”
“Using the app on a Galaxy Note 10+ makes the AR experience miserable at best. Don’t expect to move at all when using this app or else the model will shift and lose its place. It’s very sad to see when the AR doodle on my note is EXTREMELY good at tracking position in real time while actively moving and drawing but this app struggles with it standing still.”
“The iOS app has no bugs, but the Android one does. I made an colored image, which shows properly on the iOS app, but the Android one simply shows the plane as blue. Is there any reason for this?”
“It crashes immediately after I scan the ARcode. Also, the model is rotationally floating but I want it to be fixed on the ground.”
“The app is very good, but the 3-D models should be made a little bit more realistic and more in tune with our light conditions. Also, please add a video option to shoot videos with the models! Thanks!”
“Amazing technology in the palm of your hand. Good price and good quality, but the performance can get a bit slow sometimes and loading models doesn’t always work for everyone all the time. When it does work, however, it’s great.”
