Product Review of Amilia

Amilia is an easy-to-use administrator tool for superintendents, school directors, principals, and after-school program directors. It combines e-commerce with registration to create a seamless user experience that increases program efficiency. It also helps you stay on top of your financial planning without much work on your part; just download the financial reports you need.

Website: https://www.amilia.com/

What Users Love About the App

“Amilia is user-friendly for a company who has a lot of employees that use the software. It is easy to understand, learn, and find your way around. New employees don’t need a lot of training. The steps are obvious once you know the basics of the software. The best thing about Amilia is their after-sale service. They are always contacting you so that you feel comfortable about calling them if you have a question. They listen to your concerns and try their best to add the features you ask for. They are always doing follow-ups with their clients.”

“Great customer service! Their team is always available for questions ranging from quick to lengthy problems. It is easy to use; their mass edit tool has been a life saver! Overall, the software has been easy to train staff in about its basic functionalities (registrations, refunds, creating activities, to name a few).”

“Amilia collects registration information, process payments, and allows you to create a variety of programs people can register for. It accomplishes the bare minimum requirements of a registration software.”

“This is an amazing software. We are using it to track registrations and transactions relating to our summer camp. This software has helped the organization throughout the summer. We are now working through the financial reporting for the previous year. The major reason for our organization to adopt this software was the ability to generate RL-24 tax slips.”

“The number one feature of the software by far is the online registration. Before switching to Amilia, we had to manually register all our clients. The process was inefficient and took up a lot of time that as a small and new club we needed to be spending on focusing and improving our core business. With our old system we had to chase people down for money, and deal with bounced cheques and all sorts of nonsense that no one in the services community should have to deal with. The online registration worked exactly as promised, and with that came all sorts of additional features like class management and communication tools that worked incredibly well. Having all our clients be forced to pay upfront literally saved usthousands of dollars our first year alone.”

What Users Dislike About the App

“There is a steep learning curve for this software. We need a few weeks to get used to all the functionalities. I would like to see some additional functions added, like the following: 1) Ability to back date transactions. 2) Track and issue donation receipts. 3) Send notifications to different email addresses based on the activity. 4) More options for levels of access. 5) Easier use of and customization of financial reporting.”

“Amilia is not simple to use, it is not very intuitive for people to use on the front end or back end. Even after using it for many months (after an Amilia led, 4-part training session) it was still a struggle to use. Nothing was simple and I always felt like it was my first time using it. It’s really store based, which is odd for a registration software.”

“Finance & Reporting functions still need some work. Our comptroller has continued having trouble with creating reports that show, with total accuracy, how our organization is performing. Amilia has been helpful in pointing me in the right direction, but their reports are not very customizable. They lack a helpful number of reports that can be customizable, what they have is not enough.”

“It’s hard to speak to someone when you call the technical support, you can wait a lot over the phone and finish on a voicemail. If you need immediate assistance, it’s hard to get in touch with someone. It seems that the Amilia employees who work at technical support are new. I often had to chat with them for technical problems, but they could rarely solve my problem. They are only opening a technical ticket and getting back to me weeks after I first called with the problem. Most of the time, I finished by solving the problem alone by just finding a way around it. It seems like sometimes I know more about Amilia than their own customer service.”

“There is a difficult learning curve for our clients. There is also a lack of real integration with the website (only nested window). Amilia has an unintuitive purchasing process for services (and products) for clients, even for those who are familiar with the software. It has a primitive phone app (Android & iOS) with very little functionality to go along with the main program, for both clients and administrators. Then, there is a steep learning curve for administrators who are not very tech savvy. There’s absolutely no integration with ANY accounting software (i.e., Quickbooks). No integration with a POS system (i.e., Square). The software is also on the expensive side for what is offered compared to other companies, especially with the percentage taxing of sales they deduct EVEN if clients pay cash. Amilia has subpar visual aesthetics and gives no real control to administrators to change it. Also, there are no Google bookings, which is becoming more and more important in service-oriented businesses.”
