Creating a bootable USB from an ISO image is a basic task that can come in handy for various reasons. For instance, you may need to install a new operating system, create a backup or recovery disk, run diagnostics or repair tools, or install software that requires a bootable USB drive. Thankfully, there are many tools that can help you achieve this task without much hassle.

In this article, we will explore some of the useful tools that you can use to create a bootable USB from an ISO image.

  1. Rufus

Rufus is a popular and reliable software tool that can help you create bootable USB drives from ISO images. It is lightweight, fast, and easy to use, and supports a wide range of operating systems including Windows, Linux, and macOS.

To create a bootable USB with Rufus, simply download and install the software, insert your USB drive, select the ISO image, choose the appropriate settings, and click “Start” to begin the process.

  1. UNetbootin

UNetbootin is another popular tool that allows you to make bootable USBs from ISO images. It is a cross-platform utility that supports many operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS.

With UNetbootin, all you need to do is select the ISO image, choose the USB drive, and start the process. It also provides options for setting up the boot menu and auto-boot.

  1. Etcher

Etcher is a user-friendly, open-source utility that lets you create bootable USBs from ISO images using a simple drag-and-drop interface. It supports a wide range of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS.

To create a bootable USB using Etcher, simply select the ISO image, choose the USB drive, and click “Flash”. Etcher will take care of the rest, including verifying the image and formatting the USB drive.

  1. WinToUSB

WinToUSB is a powerful and easy-to-use tool that allows you to create a bootable USB drive from an ISO image or CD/DVD. It is ideal for creating a Windows installation USB for your computer or transferring a Windows operating system to a USB drive.

With WinToUSB, you can choose to create a Windows To Go drive or a system clone on a USB drive. Simply select the ISO image, choose the USB drive, and follow the prompts to create a bootable USB.
