Ka = 10^(-pKa)

This equation means that you need to raise 10 to the power of negative pKa value. The result will be the Ka value for your specific acid.

Now let’s go through an example to illustrate how to calculate Ka from a given pKa value.

1. Determine the pKa: Let’s assume that we have an acid with a known pKa value of 4.5.

2. Insert into formula: Plug this number into the equation: Ka = 10^(-pKa)

3. Solve for Ka: By placing the pKa value into the equation, we get: Ka = 10^(-4.5)

4. Calculate Ka: Using a scientific calculator, we compute the value of Ka and obtain: Ka ≈ 3.16 × 10⁻⁵
