Creating an instructional design document can seem daunting, but with the right approach, it can be a breeze. Following an outline will help you stay organized and on track, and will help you communicate your ideas clearly to your team.

  1. Sketch out a rough outline of the document, including the overall goals of the project and a description of the target audience.
  2. Define the objectives of the instructional design project. What specific goals will the document achieve?
  3. Identify the needs and goals of the learners. What do they need to know in order to successfully complete the project?
  4. Plan the sequence of the content. How will the different sections of the document help learners achieve their objectives?
  5. Brainstorm creative ways to communicate the information to the learners. What visual aids will help them understand the information?
  6. Create a prototype of the document to test out the content and design. How does the document look and work on different devices?
  7. Revise and update the document as needed, based on feedback from the testers.
  8. Present the final product to the team for approval.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
